Celebrating Musical Excellence at HAB

By Mr Creasey, Head of Music

It has been an extraordinary term for music at HAB. Our students have shown incredible dedication, creativity and passion — and I couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved both inside and outside the classroom.

Blessed and Fatim Join the National Youth Orchestra

Fatim and Blessed

We’re thrilled to announce that Blessed and Fatim from Year 11 have been accepted into the National Youth Orchestra – one of the most prestigious ensembles for young musicians in the UK!

Both are talented members of our Woodwind Trio, performing regularly in concerts and representing HAB with grace and professionalism. Their success is a huge inspiration to all our aspiring musicians.

"Our first rehearsal is in November. I applied online by writing about what music means to me with my grades and achievements. Music is inspirational to me, and a real enjoyment" Blessed.

"Music is really important to me and I incorporated it in everything I do. I listen to music every day, in school I study music, music is everywhere and music is part of my career aspirations"
Fatim.

Sofia Earns a Distinction in Diploma-Level Violin Exam

Huge congratulations to Sofia from Year 11, who has achieved a Distinction in her Diploma-level violin exam – an exceptional result that reflects years of dedication and remarkable musical skill.

“Sofia is an outstanding violinist,” said Mr Creasey. “Her playing is expressive, refined, and full of emotion – a true role model for our younger students - this is an incredible achievement for a young musician.”

Rising Voices: Year 7 Choir

Our Year 7 Choir gave a joyful performance at HAB’s Open Evening, wowing families and visitors alike. Amanda and Mia took centre stage as soloists, performing with confidence and enthusiasm in their very first major school concert.

“I was hugely impressed with how Mia, Amanda and the entirety of year 7 represented the school at open evening. Their performance after only four weeks of music lessons was superb!” - Creasey

The Year 7 Choir rehearses every Monday after school – new members are always welcome!

Kinetika Bloco – Music Beyond the Classroom

Many HAB students also take part in Kinetika Bloco on Friday afternoons – a fantastic community project that helps young musicians collaborate and create in new ways.

Maimouna, along with Blessed and Fatim, have been regular participants.

Find out more about Kinetika Bloco.

A Final Note from Mr Creasey

“Every one of these students represents what makes music at HAB so special – talent, teamwork, and a love for sharing music with others. I’m incredibly proud of all they’ve achieved, and I can’t wait to see what they do next.”
