Radiyat Wins Jack Petchey Southwark Regional Finals

Jack Petchey (5)On Tuesday 7th March, our assembly finalists Radiyat (pictured) and Fatima, Year 10, headed to the Jack Petchey Speak Out Regional Finals at St Thomas the Apostle College in Peckham to represent HAB and perform their speeches.

Fatima gave her speech on 'Eurocentric beauty standards' and received laughs and applause from the audience for her comical lip fillers props! Radiyat performed her innovative speech called 'Bringing back shame' with incredible confidence and humour.

There could only be three winners. Excitingly, the judges (unanimously) awarded Radiyat first place out of a total of 17 other students from schools across Southwark!

We are all incredibly proud of both Fatima and Radiyat for their courage and diligence, and of our assembly runner-up Esther Y, who also attended the event. Stay tuned for more news as Radiyat will be heading to the semi-finals in July to compete against students from boroughs across London.
