Year 11 Key Dates and End of Year Info For Parents
Dear Year 11 Parents and Carers,
As we approach GCSE exams, I wanted to write with some key information and dates to help support your daughter through this period.
From Monday 16th May, Year 11 will be starting a different timetable that will be printed and put on display on site in the restaurant. It will outline their lessons which have been re-structured to fit close to each upcoming exam to provide the perfect revision support.
Please note that Year 11 are expected to remain on site and attend full time until Tuesday 14th June, after which they are attending every day for revision and exams, but they will not necessarily all be on site all day – a timetable will be given with details.
Their last exam is on Thursday 23rd June; following this there will be the traditional final all-year photo and shirt signing event. The school day timings remain the same for all students until Wednesday 15th June: 8.25am and finishing Monday and Friday at 2.30pm and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at 3.30pm.
For exams, there will prompt start times and there will be support from staff in the restaurant each day. It is vital therefore that all students are on site in full uniform with all equipment. It is also vital that students are on time in the morning, as always.
We are delighted to be able to invite you to the Year 11 Graduation, which will take place on Friday 24th June starting at 2pm. It will finish around 3-3.30. We are pleased to invite two people per student to attend. Please note that it is an adult-only event and that unfortunately late arrivals will not be able to be admitted as the gates will be closed promptly so we can start the ceremonies. This is a formal event and marks the end of your daughter’s GCSE education, as such there will be a presentation ceremony, speeches by staff and students and musical performances.
We also delighted to announce that our Year 11 cohort are still hoping to be hosting the first ever Prom Evening Celebration at the Academy immediately after the graduation ceremony, subject to final payments being received and places confirmed. This will start at 4pm and end promptly at 8pm. Please ensure that if you are collecting students at the end of the evening that you arrive on time so that we are able to close the site. Tickets are being sold at the moment and students are still able to buy these through ParentPay. Only students who have tickets will be admitted on the evening. If you have made your first payment, please do make the second payment by Friday 27th May so that the Prom Committee can secure the event and make deposits to secure the DJ, food, decorations and other exciting parts of the evening.
Results day will take place on Thursday 25th August; more details will come about the day in due course.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. It has been a pleasure to work with this year group over the past 4 years and I do hope to see as many of you as possible at the Graduation where we can celebrate your daughter’s hard work and achievements together.
Yours Sincerely
Martha Berry
Head of Year 11
