Parents of New Year 7s - Update from the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

First, and most importantly, I hope that this letter finds you and your family well; I know that this is an uncertain time for all families and that you will have much to think about and to manage at present.

One thing that you may wonder about over the coming weeks is how we will support your daughter with feeling ready for joining us at HAB in September, particularly as our Welcome Evenings will not go ahead as scheduled (on 31st March and 19th May) and we may well have to rearrange our induction day on 2nd June.

I would like to assure you and your daughter that we are still planning for her transition to us in the new academic year, that we are very much looking forward to getting to know her and that we know that she will make a really brilliant HAB Girl!

We were delighted to see so many of you at our STEAM in Transit evening on 19th March. This was our first chance to welcome you in person as official HAB families and we loved every minute of it.

I will write to you again frequently and give you information about how to prepare for September, but I know you will also need to do this at your own pace and in your own time, which is absolutely understandable.

I know that with SATs not going ahead, you might appreciate some activities being provided by us to help your daughter with preparing to join us. We will provide some electronic resources via our website in the summer term that might be useful to you, but please be aware that there is no obligation to do this whatsoever, so please don’t feel pressured by this.

If you would like to receive a hard copy of any resources, please email our Admissions Officer, Vicki Inglott, who will be able to organise for this:

There are several key pieces of information I would ask you to take note of, below.

Secondary Admissions Enrolment Form

A blank form is downloadable here and we would be grateful if you could complete and return it to as soon as possible. You can also send it by post to the Admissions Officer, Vicki Inglott, at our school address if you prefer.

Please note: as part of the Admissions process, you will need to show us some ID at some point (your daughter’s passport or birth certificate), but you don’t need to do this yet. For GDPR purposes, please do not send or scan any copies of these documents to us.

Our uniform is not changing (you can find information about it on the website), but we have a new uniform supplier from 1st June this year. Stevenson’s is an online provider who will be able to provide all the uniform you need via online orders. As soon as they are up-and-running, we will send you the details about how to use their service. In advance of 1st June.

Whitehall Clothiers (our current supplier) will be selling stock at a significant discount. As all clothing shops are currently closed, you won’t be able to purchase items yet, but we will let you know as soon as it is possible for you to do so.

Please continue to check our website and Twitter @HABermondsey for further updates and news.

If you have specific concerns or queries, please contact our Admissions Officer,

With all good wishes to you and your families.

Yours sincerely

Rebecca Iles-Smith
