Year 10 Harris Scholars
Today was a fantastic day for our brilliant Year 10 Harris Scholar students here at HAB. They were joined by students from a variety of Harris Academies who came together for a joint session to focus on building their academic and learning potential.
The students attending have been selected for this program based their excellent application in the classroom and overall engagement. The aim of the program is to help support and prep students for their applications to prestigious universities, through mentoring and academic events such as this one.
Today, students heard from The Life Skills Company who worked on developing study and information-retention skills, and the Philosophy Foundation who introduced them to critical thinking and intellectual creativity.
The day consisted of problem-solving tasks, group-based critical-thinking discussions and reflection exercises. Students were able to listen to these great organisations speak and gain a valuable insight into certain skills that will help propel them through their university applications, when the time comes.

We are very proud of our students Taline, Krisa, Lily and Asiya pictured above, who all found this opportunity very useful. They have said the following reflecting on the day:
I liked how they covered things that are not taught in class. For example, they taught us skills on how to revise meaningfully and write good application, something everyone should know.” Taline
The workshops were very informative, educational and inspiring. Today got me thinkling in a new way and has me considering how to ask more creative questions.” Krisa
I thoroughly enjoyed working with the Philosophy Foundation. In particular, I enjoyed the thought-provoking nature of what was discussed adn I really enjoyed exploring open ended questions.” Lily
The skills they covered today were really useful and I would actually use them in my every day and academic life.” Asiya
