Our U14 girls football team really enjoyed playing in the English Schools FA Competition. It was a close match decided on penalties (nail biting!) with HAB girls through to the next round. Well done everyone! Full report https://t.co/3iNc45tlOV https://t.co/J57VUV20lB

The Harris Peckham Nursery Hub is possibly the most amazing innovation I’ve heard of. Free nursery care for disadvantaged families, 51 weeks a year, all day, meals included. What a wonderful thing!

Thank you for sharing your experiences. Too many experience mental ill health alone. It’s so important to signpost the support available in all its forms.

Highlight of the day; being given an amazing sheet of biology key words/concepts. I was off task and used this sheet to highlight schema connections between biology and physics... https://t.co/nbLapR0F8Y

Strong A Level Results for HAB Sixth Formers

Emma, Hope, TamarWe’re incredibly proud of all of our inaugural Year 13 students, who opened their A Level results today.

Half of all grades were A*-B which is a very strong performance and we’re delighted for them,” said Lyndsay Harris, Head of Sixth Form.

Tamar, from Southwark, (pictured, right) gained an A*, A and B in History, English and Biology. She followed the Pathways to Law programme and will be the first in her family to go to university, studying Law at Warwick. “I was really happy with my results but shocked too!” she said. Tamar puts her excellent grades down to the support she got from teachers as well as her own hard work. “They mark every piece of work really thoroughly and support you for as long as you need,” she said.

Hope (pictured, centre) achieved A*, B and B in English, History and Sociology and will now study either Sociology at Warwick or History and Sociology at Sheffield. “Our teachers would make us keep working until our work was really good so we’d be here until 6pm in the evenings sometimes,” said Hope, who wants to go into social policy.

On results day, each student is given their results individually so they can discuss them with teachers and assess their options. “We don’t want students to just collect their results and go away,” said Ms Harris. “That’s why we’re here for them, to help them decide their next step, to go out into the world with confidence and good advice.”

Emma (pictured, left), who achieved an A in English and C in Sociology as well as Distinction Star in BTEC Business Extended Diploma is now set to study Sociology and Social Psychology at York. She attributes her success to her own hard work and that of teachers too. “We did it together,” she said.

Asked what advice she’d give younger students who were looking to do well, Tamar said: “Don’t compare yourself to other people because it can take time to get into your stride at A Level. But persevere and you’ll get where you want to go.” Hope has some good advice too: “Get off your phone and start revising early.”

HAB offers Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, English Literature, History, French, Geography and Sociology at A Level as well as BTEC Business.
