Harris Academy Bermondsey Celebrates Excellence at Annual Rewards Evening


Harris Academy Bermondsey recently hosted its highly anticipated annual Rewards Evening, a heart-warming event dedicated to recognising and celebrating the exceptional achievements of its students. The ceremony, held in the Firman Hall, was attended by proud parents and teachers all eager to applaud the hard work and determination of the students.

The evening is a cornerstone of the academy’s calendar, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence and rewarding those students who continuously go above and beyond. Students were nominated by their teachers for awards in various categories, including Academic Excellence, Leadership, Creativity, and Contribution to the School Community. These awards highlight the diverse talents and dedication demonstrated by the students throughout the year.

The event started with performances by the Academy’s talented woodwind ensemble and a piano soloist, added a vibrant touch to the evening and providing a great ambience whilst those who arrived were treated to canapes and refreshments and had the opportunity to interact with staff, parents and most importantly our guests of honour – the students nominated for awards.

Once everyone was seated, Gizlé Landman, our Principal, opened the evening with a congratulatory speech, commending the students for their resilience and commitment to their studies. “Tonight is about celebrating your hard work, your dedication, and the unique contributions you make to our school community,” said the principal. “Each of you embodies the spirit of excellence that defines Harris Academy Bermondsey.”

The event concluded with refreshments and an opportunity for families and staff to celebrate together and commemorate the occasion, taking photos of the Award winners with their certificates and prizes, Parents expressed their pride, with many praising the school’s dedication to fostering a culture of recognition and encouragement. As the evening came to a close, it was clear that the Rewards Evening was more than just an awards ceremony—it was a celebration of the values, achievements, and aspirations that make Harris Academy Bermondsey a hub of excellence and inspiration.
