Year 10 Students visit Google Headquarters

An Exploration in Business and Computer Science

Year 10 delved into the fusion of business and computer science during an immersive visit to Google Headquarters. Hosted by Nadine Haughton, the trip aimed to deepen their understanding of these dynamic fields through engaging activities and discussions. Students gained valuable insights into personal branding, entrepreneurship, career opportunities, and essential soft skills.

Under the guidance of Ramat, students participated in the "I am Remarkable" workshop, focusing on personal branding and confidence-building exercises. They honed their presentation skills in a session titled "Entering the Dragons Den," where they pitched Google products with creativity and business savvy.

Following a networking lunch, students toured Google's innovative workspaces and learnt about job opportunities and recruitment processes. A Q&A panel with Googlers provided valuable perspectives on the intersection of business and computer science in a corporate setting.

The day concluded with soft skills development, emphasising communication and problem-solving abilities. Student feedback reflected newfound confidence and enthusiasm for tech careers. "I now want to work at Google! I did not know that there were so many roles in tech." and another student commented "I am now more confident in applying myself when speaking, and I won a FitBit! Best trip ever!"
