Women in Tech Industries - Masterclass

Robinah, Year 13, reports on the ‘Get IT’ masterclass for Years 10 and 13, presented by global business consultancy Protiviti, which discussed the various opportunities available for women within the tech industry.

Students also discussed the disparities in the tech industry between men and women and the barriers that deter women from considering roles in tech.

The presenters walked students through the various roles within tech that cater to different individuals' strengths, from data analyst to ethical hacker. The session also covered changes in tech and its impact on society along with the advantages and disadvantages new technology offers.

At the end, students left with effective tips on how to break into the tech industry as well as a Q&A session which was followed by words of inspiration. Overall, the event was insightful and engaging and encouraged students to consider careers in tech.
