Changes in Senior Leadership - Letter to Parents
I am writing to let you know that Alan Dane has decided to step down as Principal of Harris Academy Bermondsey as he is relocating to Wales.
Alan has been with the Harris Federation for most of his teaching career, and with Harris Academy Bermondsey since it first opened in 2010, progressing from Vice Principal to Principal in 2013. He has been a truly inspiring teacher and leader for our students and staff and I know we will miss him greatly.
We are fortunate to have two highly experienced members of the senior team already in place who will now step in as Joint Acting Principals – Gillian Hodgson and Rebecca Iles-Smith – while we recruit a permanent successor to Alan in the new academic year.
Ms Hodgson and Ms Iles-Smith are well known to students and staff and familiar with the school routines, so we are confident that we can make this transition with minimal disruption to teaching and learning at Harris Academy Bermondsey.
I will, of course, keep you regularly informed as we strive to continue and build on Alan’s fantastic work in ensuring your daughters receive a truly outstanding education and the very best start in their lives.
I am sure you will join me in thanking Alan for his dedication and unrelenting commitment to all our students and in wishing him all the best.
Yours faithfully
Carolyn English, Director of Secondary Education
