The Big Dig - Our Wellbeing Garden Starts to Take Shape
We have had three fantastic Big Dig sessions over the last few weeks to help make our new Wellbeing Garden. A huge thank you to everyone who helped to clear the ground and get ready for the planting in September!
The garden is happening because a group of HAB girls has secured £1,500 from the Lord Mayor of London's City Pitch fund to create a garden and performance space. The space will contain a wellbeing area, a greenhouse so we can start a gardening club, and a performance area.
Thank you to everyone for volunteering in our three Big Dig sessions. It was so lovely to see new HAB girls mix with current HAB girls, parents chatting with teachers and everyone mucking in (literally!).

It will make such a huge difference to the girls when they have their wellbeing garden. Lilly, Willow, Erica, Julia, and Ms Kelly working during our third Big Dig session.
There is still so much to do and we are hoping to arrange a few more preparation sessions before the end of term and then in September we can have a planting session or two! So please check the parent letters and website for more future dates, it would be great to have you on board again.
We made a big dent in the wood chippings!
The first day of the Big Dig took place in May, with our staff, parents, pupils and past pupils coming together to create our Wellbeing Garden. Despite 47mph winds and drizzle, our fabulous gardener Andrew directed the rogue group of demolition experts (not much gardening experience between us!) as we worked for four hours to demolish the overgrown site, trim back the buddleia and banish the brambles.
Here is one of the areas we cleared at the first Big Dig session... before and after. The brambles didn't stand a chance after our Big Dig team got going!
A huge thank you to everyone for your fantastic help!
