Careers in Construction and the Built Environment - Youth Construction Trust
Nine Year 11 students have signed up to participate on the Construction Youth Trust (CYT) programme.
The programme aim is to "inspire and enable young people to overcome barriers and discover a career in construction and built environment sector".
The students are assigned a CYT mentor whose role is to meet with each girl weekly and engage in a range of developmental activities. The students have been a credit to HAB fully participating. They've enjoyed further developed skills that employers want, such as teamwork and problem-solving.
“Taking part in the YCT meant that we got an insight into the construction industry and what to expect in the future,” says Gaby, Year 11. “We get to take part in activities on zoom and going to construction sites, and get to meet people from lots of different careers and backgrounds.”
We are looking forward to the continuation of the programme - which extends to the end of the academic year - with increased opportunities for the students to 'learn by doing'.
