Year 7 - About Your Start Dates and Uniform

HABG 041We're really looking forward to seeing you at the start of term. Here's everything you need to know about start and end times for your first two days, and uniform too.

Tuesday 3rd September 2019

9.15am to 9.25am – Year 7 girls arrive at the front entrance to HAB.

9.30am – Girls will go to the restaurant for 15 minutes where they will be given their timetables and diaries before going to lessons.

10.55am and 12.15pm – Break and lunch time.  Lunch cards will be issued – girls not eligible for free school meals should either credit their ParentPay account or bring money to top up their card. 

3pm – Lessons finish. Girls will go to the restaurant to wait for parents and carers to arrive for the curriculum afternoon.

3.30pm – Parents and carers are asked to attend a curriculum afternoon with their daughters to meet the Year 7 team and receive the Schemes of Learning.


Wednesday 4th  September 2019 onwards

8.25am – Girls should be in school before the gate closes at 8.25am. Enter through the back gate entrance at the junction of Southwark Park Road and Dunton Road.  Girls will follow their timetables of tutor time and lessons.

3pm – Dismissal via the back gate.


Uniform and equipment

All girls should be dressed in full HAB uniform and have their essential equipment with them, including their PE kit.

Compulsory Items

  • HAB blazer
  • HAB navy pleated knee length skirt or HAB navy ankle length skirt/HAB navy tailored trousers (available from Whitehall Clothiers)
  • Long or short sleeved HAB blouse
  • HAB navy uniform jumper (optional)
  • Plain dark shoes
  • Plain white, dark or navy socks
  • Plain dark tights
  • Plain dark coat and plain dark scarf
  • Plain dark, thin hairband

The only jewellery that is permitted is a small stud earring in each ear and a wristwatch.

Girls who wish to wear a hijab must ensure that it is plain dark navy or black and worn in uniform style, around the face and tucked into the collar of the blouse.

HAB messenger bag or rucksack and PE bag are compulsory for all girls in Years 7 to 11.


For PE and Dance, girls will need:

  • HAB tracksuit or black leggings
  • HAB tshirt
  • Plimsolls or trainers

Other Essential Equipment

HAB diary – these will be given to girls at school each term.

Dictionary, reading book and scientific calculator (Casio fx-85GT PLUS-BK).

Pencil case with green biro, writing pens, pencil, ruler, rubber, pencil sharpener and colouring pencils.


Please note that all uniform, except summer dresses and HAB bags, is available from our suppliers, Whitehall Clothiers, located at 77 Camberwell Road, London SE5 0EZ.
