Tried with my other year 7s. Questions this time: -Why isn’t Pluto a planet any more?😢 -What would happen if gravity stopped? -What is the Sun made of? -Why do some things float? -Why can’t anything go faster than the light? -When and why will the Sun blow up? 😳

Almost every student in class asked a question; and lots beyond the curriculum was learnt. Thinking of formalising it as an incentive once a week (if the class work well regular part of lesson); and to improvement science engagement/capital.

Questions included: -What causes night and day? -Why do we have a moon? -Why if we are moving around the Sun don't we feel it? -What causes cancer? -How does chemotherapy work? Why does our hair fall out after chemotherapy?

Young Poets show "Courage and Compassion" at Spoken Word Event

Spoken Word April19 30Our latest Spoken Word event took place in the library earlier this month, with students from years 7-10 performing a wide range of poetry on topics ranging from knife crime and homophopbia to identity, cosmetic surgery and bereavement.

“It was amazing to see students share such personal and emotive work with the audience," said Ms Kulatilleke. "As well as showing technical skill, the poems also revealed a level of empathy and compassion that was truly moving."

Ms Morris said: “I was so proud of the girls. It takes such bravery to produce creative writing and even more courage to share it with the world. Every time these students share their work with the spoken word audience, it feels like a real privilege."

Well done to Zuthika, Tiffany, Isobel, Nuha and Peace. We're #ProudToBeHAB of you all. And thank you to Year 10 Photography Club student Shayma for the photos.
