Boxing Club Helps Confidence and Concentration

Boxing3The summer term welcomes the new and eagerly awaited boxing club with strength and conditioning training too.

The first session, which took place this week, saw over 20 students attending. The club is run from 7.30-8.15am, with students arriving already wearing their PE kits, water bottles in hand, and attentions focused on learning a new skill.

The sessions start with strength and conditioning exercises to kick start the cardiovascular system. Ms Kelly shouts in an affirmative and encouraging voice: “hop forward, chest to the ground, get up! Hop forward, chest to the ground, get up!” All students at this point are fully engaged and after a few more S&C exercises they are all focused and ready to box.

During the main part of the session students are learning the techniques of non-contact boxing which involve stance, jabs, guard, footwork, nutrition and more.
