Ayse's A Levels Mean She Can Aim for Oscars
Ayse from our Sixth Form has been given an unconditional offer from Southampton Solent University to study Make-up and Hair Design.
Ayse is studying A Levels in History, English Literature and Sociology - a suite of academic subjects which will help her pursuit of her chosen career.
“I am so happy to have been given this offer to follow my dreams in make-up and hair design," says Ayse. "I would like to either go to Hollywood or work on a fantasy TV series similar to Game of Thrones."
"Academic education is crucial"
"I have been interested in make-up and special effects for many years and have self-taught through watching tutorials, and buying my own products with my pocket money to enable lots of practice. I have a portfolio which shows some of the ideas I have been working on since the age of 15.
"My academic education is also crucial because it could enable me to work in management or higher levels of employment within the industry and I want to aim high and hope to receive an Oscar one day for outstanding makeup and hair design!
"History and English have given me a greater contextual appreciation of how to depict characters. I am also interested in hair design from different contextual periods and studying history A Level has helped that.
"I always look for opportunities to widen my skillset as I like to bring characters to life and form new identities and looks. All I want to be is a role model; to show that you should have confidence in your skillset because eventually it will pay off when you follow your dreams."
