Millwall Team Up with Year 11 HAB Footballers
Our Year 11 footballers have been taking part in a special project with Millwall Community Trust.
"Our ongoing partnership with HAB continues to support the development of all mixed ability players," says Freddie Ruby, at the trust, which uses the power of sport to improve the lives of people in Lewisham, Southwark and the wider Millwall Community.
"Our Millwall Community Trust ladies have found the experience of mentoring others invaluable and the progress made by HAB students has been outstanding. We hope to see some of those students attend our next trial on Tuesday 10th April."
Nicola Waxler, Millwall Academy Football Coach said: "It has been really exciting partnering up with Harris and using the excellent facility that is on offer to train the girls. I have been so impressed with the attitude and application that the Harris girls have shown, come wind, snow or rain, they are always there with a smile on their face and improving with every session."
"Massive stress buster"
"Training with Millwall has been really beneficial to me," says Jessica, Year 11 "Not only has it improved my football skills and made me a more confident player, it has also improved my communication, and it’s a massive stress buster that helps me to get through all the pressure of being in Year 11."
Mikayla-Jay agrees: "The benefit of training with the Millwall Academy players is that I continue to improve as a player. I have a deeper understanding of using different strategies within the game. But more than this, I have further developed my communication and leadership skills and look forward to representing both HAB and Millwall when we play our first competitive game. Finally it is a great feeling to be participate in such successful community partnership!"
