School Commendation Scheme Launched

CommendationWe've just launched a new school commendation scheme, in which students receive commendations from their teachers for putting our six core values of conscience, conviction, collegiality, criticiality, tenacity and scholarship into action.

There are Bronze, Silver and Gold awards which students work towards. These awards will be celebrated in Year group achievement assemblies every half term. Gold award winners (for 90 commendations) will receive a place on a special school trip at the end of the year.

Students collect commendations on a special card that is signed by the teacher giving the commendation (pictured).

Our core values

Conscience. HAB students make decisions based on their positive conscience and can decide what is morally right and wrong. As a result, students make positive choices when considering their behaviour and learning. They do what is right even when people aren’t watching.

Conviction. HAB students demonstrate firmly held beliefs that help them make conscious decisions. They have the courage of conviction to do what is right. HAB students embrace new challenges and endeavour to have a balanced curriculum that appreciates the value of enrichment alongside academia.

Collegiality. HAB students are excellent team players. They lead by example and are beacons of excellence when representing HAB. All students demonstrate positive relations with their peers and show respect to all staff, students and visitors. They show a caring attitude to all.

Criticality. HAB students are not passive in their learning. They question the world around them and use logic and reasoning to challenge the status quo. They ask questions regularly in lessons to further their understanding, provide alternative points of view or methods of working.

Tenacity. HAB students have a determination to succeed. They demonstrate excellent levels of resilience to pursue their goals and ambitions. HAB students will not quit and see failure as a necessary step in learning to improve.

Scholarship. HAB students have a thirst for knowledge. They enjoy reading and have a open minded approach to new concepts, theories and debate. They go above and beyond in classwork and homework to further their understanding and respond to feedback effectively.

Girls earn commendations from their teachers by putting our values into action. We look forward to reporting on our award winners in our latest news section.
