At the end of each term HAB girls have the opportunity to write a postcard to praise someone in our school community. They do so anonymously and 'post' them to be delivered. The idea came from one of our brilliant Year 9 girls.

These will be used by extracting key data from balance sheets and then using the ratios to analyse performance.

The students will also look at Operations and the Business Organisation. The key topics and themes throughout this term are day to day finances and long term assists, logistics, legal structure, legislation and aims and objectives and hierarchies.

Recruitment

Year 10

The foundation has been set in year 9 and now the students will begin with the knowledge required to access the GCSE exams. Marketing is a key topic and although already studied in year 9, the addition of Product, Place, Promotion and Price and the Product Life Cycle is an increase in the knowledge required.

The second term focuses on Aims and Objectives and People. Although there are a variety of key concepts with each topic the main area of development is the relationship between stakeholders and the direction of any given business.

The summer term is focused solely upon the Controlled Assessment. The theory surrounding the Controlled Assessment is key to doing well in this unit. The students will compile their research, learning notes and evidence and will make a plan for the write up in exam conditions. Exam board studied: AQA.

Year 11

Year 11 students will return to the new academic year with their evidence and key data of their controlled assessment. They will prepare and write the assessment over the term.  This term will also have taught lessons. It will be the areas of weakness by the students rather than a pre-set topic. Generally it is the finance unit that students need extra support with, so as such, this is the unit that will be planned for.

In the spring term, finance will be a focus as it is a key part of unit 1. The student will also focus on operations management and marketing. Two key themes in business studies.

They will finish the course by intensive revision, supported by past papers, exam style questions and seminars. The teacher will plan for each student and ensure that each student has a specific focus that works best for them. Exam board studied: AQA
