Business

Our Business curriculum is crafted to align with the school’s vision of empowering every student to exceed their own expectations. We equip them with the essential skills needed to thrive in both financial and non-financial sectors, preparing them for the future job market.

Our courses offer a robust theoretical foundation and practical knowledge of the business world, with strong links to related fields such as economics and finance. Students studying Business at HAB will gain a solid grounding in these areas while being encouraged to engage actively with current business news and developments. They will regularly read articles from reputable newspapers and journals, staying informed on key stories covered by various media outlets.

The curriculum is designed to ensure that students develop a deep understanding of key concepts and substantive knowledge within the field. This is achieved through a vertically structured approach, where units are taught in a sequential manner, allowing students to master each concept before moving on. This cumulative learning method helps students gradually and systematically build a comprehensive understanding of core business concepts, which they can apply to real-world scenarios.

At Key Stage 4, selected students follow the AQA GCSE Business Specification, which offers an in-depth exploration of business acumen and the skills required to run a successful enterprise. Through case studies, students are exposed to a wide range of business examples, learning techniques for market analysis, product development, and customer engagement. The course includes both examination and vocational elements, providing a strong foundation for further study in A-Level or vocational courses at Key Stage 5.

At Key Stage 5, we offer the Cambridge Technical Level 3 Extended Certificate, a challenging and engaging hands-on program for students eager to deepen their understanding of the business world. This course serves as an alternative to A-Levels, featuring continuous assessment over two years, which allows for more manageable progress tracking. Students study real businesses, tackle genuine business problems, and develop innovative business ideas and strategies. They also explore how organizational structure and compliance influence decision-making processes and stakeholder involvement.

Throughout our curriculum, we aim to ignite a passion for Business by integrating Master Classes from industry specialists and offering enriching opportunities such as educational trips. This approach not only enables students to achieve strong academic results but also cultivates transferable skills like problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking.

In sum, our Business Studies curriculum provides a comprehensive and rigorous education that equips students to meet the challenges of higher education and the dynamic demands of the business world.
