Enrichment & Trips
Enrichment
Enrichment is a vital part of our students' learning. Each term students, in years 7 to 9, choose from a wide list of enrichment opportunities. Members of staff offer an enrichment ‘club’ which range from a coding club, a Jazz band, through to PE activities like Cricket; there are then a wide range of opportunities for every interest, and for developing new skills, such as a club focussed on scientific experiments, Geoguessr Club and even crocheting with the principal!
Students are offered the chance to change their enrichment choices three times a year. Groups are often mixed in terms of the year groups, so it means that students get to work with different year groups which helps foster collaborations and mentoring between students and supports our community and values in working together positively.
Please see below for a list of current clubs and societies - updated September 2025.

Trips At Harris Academy Bermondsey
School trips play a vital role in our personal development programme, complementing the enrichment clubs and weekly activities. We believe that learning beyond the classroom isn't just about seeing new places — it's about broadening horizons, building confidence, and bringing our values of Ambition, Compassion, and Respect to life.
Our trips are carefully designed to align with both academic and personal development goals. For example, our Mandarin students recently visited the British Museum's China Gallery, followed by a journey through Chinatown, where they immersed themselves in Chinese New Year traditions, sample authentic food, and practised cultural exchange. By combining museum learning with real-world cultural experiences, these trips deepen students’ understanding of global heritage while building strong community bonds.
A cornerstone of our trips offer is the Duke of Edinburgh Award, through which students participate in expeditions, residential activities, and volunteering projects. The DofE programme develops resilience, teamwork, leadership, and self-reliance — key life skills that stay with our students long after they leave HAB.
Beyond these central programmes, we also offer a variety of subject-focused and enrichment trips, ranging from creative and historical visits to London landmarks, to specialist excursions that tie into broader areas of learning. These experiences support our ambitious curriculum, which Ofsted praised for offering “numerous, varied opportunities to nurture, develop and stretch pupils’ talents and interests.
Importantly, our trip programme is rooted in the same values that guide our wider personal development curriculum. Whether it’s a cultural museum visit, a language immersion experience, or a DofE expedition, every trip encourages students to demonstrate compassion for different communities, to push their own ambitions, and to work together with respect. These journeys are more than simply educational: they are transformative, helping our students grow into thoughtful, confident, and globally minded young people.
