Business Mentoring

HAB has won national acclaim for its Mentors from Business mentoring scheme.

Business Mentoring at HAB is now in its 21st year. We are proud to have formed links with companies such as PWC and Deutsche Bank to name a few. Business Mentoring provides the opportunity for our students to meet people outside of the normal education framework who can support them generally with academic/organisational support or more specifically with their Maths and/or English studies.

Students are paired with a Mentor and will work with them once a week from 8.00am until 8.45am. The meetings continue every week throughout the years leading up to the examinations.

In addition to our main school mentoring programme, we also offer a dedicated HAB6 mentoring strand. This provides targeted support for students as they navigate the sixth form and then transition into further education and prepare for life beyond school.  Business mentors work with students on areas such as university and apprenticeship applications, personal statements, interview preparation, subject-specific challenges, and early career planning. This helps students gain confidence in their post-16 pathways and make informed decisions about their future ambitions.

We run both mentoring strands to provide our students:

• Guidance in a general or specific professional area

• Early career development

• Professional identity development guidance

• Help and advice on subjects such as Maths and English

• Help and advice to apply for an apprenticeship

• To enable them to learn more about work life
