Year 9 French Students Enjoy Inspiring Day at the BFI
Recently, our Year 9 French students enjoyed an exciting and enriching visit to the British Film Institute (BFI), where they took part in a special programme celebrating Francophone cinema.
Throughout the morning, students explored three thought-provoking short films from Madagascar, Quebec and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The screenings offered a fascinating insight into the diversity of French-speaking cultures around the world, encouraging students to think about different perspectives while developing their listening and comprehension skills in French. After each film, students participated in lively discussions, sharing their impressions, analysing key themes and reflecting on the cultural messages presented on screen.
One of the highlights of the day came when several of our students confidently took to the stage to perform a dialogue entirely in French. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and impressive language skills were a credit to themselves and demonstrated the confidence they have developed in the classroom.
In the afternoon, students were treated to a VIP screening of the beloved French film Le Petit Prince. Watching this visually stunning adaptation on the big screen was the perfect way to round off a memorable day, reinforcing both language learning and an appreciation of French-speaking cultures through the medium of film.
The visit was an inspiring experience for everyone involved, giving students the opportunity to immerse themselves in authentic French language and culture beyond the classroom. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, curiosity and excellent behaviour shown by all of our Year 9 students throughout the day.
Les élèves de 3e (Year 9) découvrent le cinéma francophone au BFI
Récemment, nos élèves de Year 9 ont vécu une journée passionnante et enrichissante au British Film Institute (BFI), où ils ont participé à un programme spécial consacré au cinéma francophone.
Au cours de la matinée, les élèves ont découvert trois courts métrages captivants originaires de Madagascar, du Québec et de la République démocratique du Congo. Ces projections leur ont permis d'explorer la richesse et la diversité des cultures francophones à travers le monde, tout en développant leurs compétences de compréhension orale en français. Après chaque film, les élèves ont participé à des discussions animées, partageant leurs impressions, analysant les thèmes abordés et réfléchissant aux messages culturels véhiculés par les œuvres.
L'un des moments forts de la journée a été la prestation de plusieurs de nos élèves, qui sont montés sur scène pour interpréter un dialogue entièrement en français. Ils ont fait preuve d'assurance, d'un excellent esprit d'équipe et de très belles compétences linguistiques, témoignant des progrès accomplis tout au long de l'année.
L'après-midi, les élèves ont eu le privilège d'assister à une projection VIP du célèbre film Le Petit Prince. Découvrir cette magnifique adaptation sur grand écran a été une excellente façon de conclure cette journée, en renforçant leur apprentissage de la langue française tout en développant leur appréciation des cultures francophones grâce au cinéma.
Cette sortie a été une expérience inspirante et mémorable pour tous. Elle a offert aux élèves une occasion unique de s'immerger dans la langue et les cultures francophones en dehors de la salle de classe. Nous sommes extrêmement fiers de leur curiosité, de leur enthousiasme et de leur comportement exemplaire tout au long de cette journée.
