HAB Students Shine in National Maths Challenges

Junior Mathematical Challenge

Students at HAB have achieved outstanding success in this year’s UK Mathematics Trust competitions, with impressive performances across the Junior Mathematical Challenge (JMC), Intermediate Mathematical Challenge (IMC), and the prestigious follow-on Kangaroo rounds.

The Junior Mathematical Challenge took place on Wednesday 29th April 2026, with 57 students participating — 27 from Year 7 and 30 from Year 8. Students achieved an exceptional number of awards, demonstrating resilience, determination and academic excellence.

In Year 7, Adwoa achieved a Gold Certificate and Best in School. She was joined by five students receiving Silver Certificates: Mia, Wafa, Denisha, Elizabeth and Melat. A further ten students earned Bronze Certificates: Diya, Lujain, Sarah, Kaeshi, Amreen, Irene, Abbey, Olatide, Nourseen and Safa. Overall, 16 of the 27 Year 7 participants achieved certificates.

Year 8 students also delivered an excellent set of results. Aayema achieved a Gold Certificate and Best in Year 8. Silver Certificates were awarded to Nikola, Freya, Kezziah-Rose, Leen, Yusraa, Arlinne, Kirushniga, Leyla, Asantewah and Amelia. Bronze Certificates were earned by Zohal, Sofia, Taisia, Sudun, Aba, Jane, Layla, Nusrat and Amani. In total, 20 out of 30 Year 8 students achieved certificates — an impressive 67% of participants.

We are also delighted to announce that both Adwoa and Aayema have been invited to compete in the Junior Kangaroo Challenge on 9th June 2026.


Intermediate Mathematical Challenge

Earlier in the year, over 50 HAB students took part in the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge, held on Wednesday 28th January 2026. Following their exceptional performances, students progressed to the highly competitive Grey and Pink Kangaroo Challenges on Thursday 19th March 2026.

MY7A2405Year 11 student Niamh achieved a Gold Certificate and Best in School in the Intermediate Maths Challenge before going on to secure a Silver Certificate and Best in School in the Pink Kangaroo Challenge.

Year 9 student Zoe also excelled, earning a Gold Certificate and Best in Year 9 in the Intermediate Maths Challenge before achieving a Bronze Certificate and Best in School in the Grey Kangaroo Challenge.

These achievements reflect HAB students’ commitment to scholarship, perseverance and ambition. We are incredibly proud of all students who participated and congratulate everyone involved on their fantastic accomplishments.
