Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge – Southwark Regional Finals
On Wednesday 29 April, two outstanding Year 10 students, Zainab Karim and Angelina Jarrett, represented HAB at the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge Southwark Regional Finals 2025–26.
First place was awarded to Zainab for her powerful and deeply personal speech, “My Name Is…”. Drawing on her own experiences, Zainab spoke with honesty and pride about embracing her full name and celebrating her Nigerian heritage. Her delivery captivated the audience and judges alike.

Angelina was named runner-up with her compelling speech, “Does It Matter?”, which explored the harmful effects of beauty standards on young people and their mental health. Her message resonated strongly with the audience.

We were also delighted to see last year’s second-place winner, Eloise Shaw (Year 11), return to the stage as the event’s MC. Eloise hosted with confidence, warmth, and professionalism.

Zainab now progresses to the semi-finals, where a panel of judges will decide which speakers advance to the Grand Final on 6 July at London’s Cambridge Theatre.
We are incredibly proud of all three students.
