Year 13 Biology Ecology Fieldwork
This week, our Year 13 Biology students had the valuable opportunity to carry out their ecology fieldwork in the woodland and pond habitats at Harris Academy Beulah Hill (HABH), as part of their preparation for the AQA A Level Biology Required Practical on ecosystems.
The visit provided students with access to a rich natural environment, allowing them to apply their classroom learning in a real-world context. Using both woodland and aquatic ecosystems, students conducted a range of sampling techniques, including quadrat sampling, transects, and investigations into abiotic factors such as light intensity, soil moisture, and water conditions.
