Girls Complete Challenging Academic Skills Programme
Three HAB girls recently completed the Year 9 UCL Sutton Scholars programme, which offers an exciting range of visits, events and programmes for students who are under-represented in higher education.
As part of the programme, Heyaballe, Ibtisam and Heyabel (pictured) looked at academic skills including writing, research and problem-solving. They also took part in an Easter School which focused on opportunities outside of academic study, and GCSE preparations. Students created their own student society, learnt about student support and wellbeing, visited the University of Cambridge, and took part in a PhD-led session on either Biology, English, Maths or Statistics.
At the end of the Year 9 Easter School students were set a very challenging academic assignment and received their certificates and awards at the end of Programme Graduation Ceremony held in July 2019.
It was a great occasion that celebrated the enthusiasm and hard work of all the students on the programme. Students wore caps and gowns to accept their certificates in proper university fashion!
Huge congratulations to Heyaballe, Ibtisam and Heyabel. We’re very #ProudToBeHAB of you all.
