School Play, Little Women, 17-18 July, 6pm
Drama teacher Sarah Harvey writes about our visit to National Theatre Costume Hire as we prepare for our school production of Little Women on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 July, 6pm.
For the second time HAB girls have been lucky enough to visit the National Theatre Costume Hire to get fitted for their school production costumes.
It is a truly a spectacular place full of wonder that never dulls, and I must admit seeing HAB girls faces light up as they walk through the door is still one of my favourite moments year upon year!
The costumes and props have been worn and used by professional actors and theatre companies, making the process of visiting, trying them on and being given your final costumes even more special.
This year we are tackling Little Women and our costumes are (trying to!) adhere to the American Civil War era; cue some brilliant moments of students physically trying to tackle wearing petticoats and bonnets - we ended up ditching the petticoats due to concerns about over-heating, but the bonnets have stayed despite some protests regarding itchy straw.
We took our cast in two groups, the second one being for the ‘fancier’ characters with a few more ribbons and bows!
