Harsa Takes Big Step to a Career in Medicine
We are delighted that Harsa from Year 13 has received an offer to study Medicine at the University of Nottingham.
Harsa is officially the first student in HAB's history to receive an offer to study Medicine and we're really #ProudToBeHAB of Harsa and our Sixth Form for making such excellent progress.
"Ecstatic"
“When I found out yesterday about the offer from Nottingham University I was ecstatic about what the future may hold for me," says Hara.
"It has been a rollercoaster of a journey and I still have some way to go but right now I am feeling very pleased with this offer. Medicine is a career that will enable me to enjoy my interest in human biology but also enables me to use that knowledge to improve the lives and health of the patients I hope to see in the future."
Pathways to Medicine programme
Harsa says that in Year 11 the Pathways to Medicine Programme "opened the window of opportunity and solidified my interest in this career path". The programme supports students with their academic work and helps them gain hands-on experience too. As part of the programme, each student is mentored by an undergraduate currently at medical school. There are also special talks on subjects such as Ebola and iKnife surgery to help broaden our students’ understanding of medicine.
"HAB6 provided me with the opportunity to apply to the Medic Portal Programme which further helped me with the application process enabling me to make a stronger application," says Harsa.
