African Storytelling Competition - Read the Winners
Our African storytelling creative writing competition last term attracted some fantastic entries from Key Stage 3 girls.
“African storytelling is not the same as reading a story aloud or reciting a piece from memory,” says Ms Oni, who organised the competition.
“The storyteller creates a series of mental images associated with words. Traditional storytelling in Africa reveals ideas, themes, beliefs, and facts that are widely spread. It discloses concepts that are unique to a community, village, or region.”
HAB girls wrote some truly wonderful stories in the African tradition and the winners are:
- Xinye, 7A
- Tara, 8B
- Ayesha, 9B
You can see the three winning stories below.
