Holidays During Term Time - Information for Parents
Dear Parent/Carer,
A this time of year, requests for term time leave are common as we approach the end of the summer term. I would like to remind parents and carers it is not our policy to authorise holidays in term time. The summer term ends on July 23rd, 2019.
While the Academy understands that there are substantial differences in price for air fare tickets, term time holiday absence will be reported as a matter of course to the Education Welfare Service; we are under a duty to do this. Where unauthorised leave is taken that causes attendance to fall below 95%, the Governing Body will support the imposition of a Fixed Penalty Notice.
In line with the DfE guidelines, where there are exceptional circumstances an application must be made to the Principal in writing well in advance of the dates requested for absence. The Principal must be satisfied that there are exceptional circumstances based on the individual facts and circumstances of the case which warrant the leave.
