STEM Club Builds Lego Robots For Competition
Key stage 4 STEM club has been taking part in a competition called the First Lego League. As part of the competition there were given a series of missions and a project brief and had to work as a team to complete them.
For the missions, they had to identify which missions they thought would win them the most points, then build and program a Lego robot to complete them.
For the project they had to identify a problem with long term space travel and try to come up with a solution for the problem.
On Saturday 26 January the team of ten Year 10 students made their way to Queen Mary University London with Ms Newell and Mr Ryberg. They competed against 23 other teams - completing three robot matches, presenting the project and talking to judges about the processes they took throughout the challenge.
While we did not win any trophies, the students had a fantastic day where they demonstrated resilience and determination. They presented professionally and eloquently. They hope to try again next year, as well as teaching some of the younger years about robotics.
I am so immensely proud of the fantastic work these students did for this competition.
