Football - Oaklands 0 HAB 6
HAB girls played in the second round of the U14s English Schools Football Association competition, beating Oaklands School 6-0. Goals in the first half came from Amara, with two, and Susan.
The second half saw more of the same with two goals coming from Taiwo, a saved penalty from Oaklands and Sarah scoring her first goal for the HAB football team after coming on at half time.
"Brilliant achievement"
Player of the match went to Gabrielle, Year 9, for keeping a clean sheet. Gabrielle said: "The game involved our team dominating possession and creating many scoring opportunities. In my opinion we could have scored six goals in the first half with ease.
"The opposing team were competitive and even though they were losing the game they didn’t give up and kept fighting right to the very end, which shows that they are quite a resilient team. Because our team competed in this competition last year, we had an insight into the expectations and tough competitors we would possibly face.
"On the whole, it was a brilliant achievement and we hope to progress further than last year."
