Twenty three students and two sixth formers from HAB Dance Company (HABDaCo) travelled to Stevenage Lifestyles Centre for the Rock Challenge on 5th February where they rehearsed, performed and wowed the crowds and judges alike.

This was HAB's first taste of the Rock Challenge, a global dance competition run by the Be Your Best Foundation.

Out of 10 schools we were placed 4th, an amazing achievement for the students and their choreographer and leader Kandice Abraham. It was truly a pleasure to be accompanying the HABDaCo Dancers on this trip. They were #outstanding and we couldn't be more #ProudToBeHAB of them.

On top of the 4th place, all other schools voted us as the best performance, we won the best choreography award, best entertainment and best technical award. A truly magnificent achievement for our second ever competition experience.

"I am delighted at where the dancers have placed in what is only their second ever dance competition," said Ms Abraham. "I have spent many late evenings with the 23 dancers who have shown that hard work and dedication leads to brilliant results. I am so incredibly proud of my talented HabdaCo dancers, and I am extremely #ProudtobeHAB."

And a special mention must go to Beth Dugdale for all the incredible hard work she and the KS3 art club put into the costumes and set.

The aim of the Be Your Best Foundation is to encourage young people to lead healthy lifestyles and to be their best without the need for tobacco, alcohol or other drugs.  Rock Challenge UK is part of the Global Rock Challenge and is the foundation's main activity every year for promoting this cause.
