The World of Publishing Comes to Life for Year 10
A group of Year 10 students visited Hachette Livre publishers recently for a tour of the headquarters and to speak to people from a range of departments.
They sat in on presentations and learned about the structure of a publishing company, the roles of an editor and designer, and how publishers set about marketing and publicity.
The girls even made design choices for a book cover using a real life brief, and were pleased that their choices matched those of the publisher's design team! We now have several budding designers in out midst.
Hachette Livre gave us some free books, which was very generous. Students were keen to get their hands on a copy of You Got This: A fabulously fearless guide to being YOU, by Bryony Gordon.
Overall it was a wonderful day and we'd like to thank Hachette Livre for giving our girls this opportunity.
