Girls Make Giant Paper Chain For World Pi Day
We celebrated World Pi Day recently, with girls trying to memorise Pi to as many digits as possible and making a giant Pi paper chain, with each link representing a digit.
Soma, Year 8, won the contest by remembering the first 51 digits of Pi in order! 3.14159265.... etc etc etc.
Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point.
