Ibtissam selected for Sutton Scholars Programme
Ibtissam, Year 8, has been selected for the UCL Sutton Scholars programme, a two-year academic enrichment programme delivered in partnership with the Sutton Trust.
Ibtissam went to UCL (University College London) for three days in the February half term as part of the programme. On the first day students got to know other students and UCL ambassadors who are current students at the college.
On the second day students discussed what it would take to get to Mars. Ibtissam said: "It was really interesting as it gave me an understanding of astrophysics and got me interested in research into space exploration."
On the last day they studied anthropology which Ibtissam also enjoyed because it taught her different perspectives on people who come from other cultures. She really liked the university-style learning delivered through lectures and she can't wait to go back in May.
The Sutton Trust aims to improve social mobility through education.
