Media and Enterprise Specialism at Harris Academy Bermondsey

At the Harris Academy Bermondsey we are focussed on ensuring every girl leaves with a broad range of skills that equip her for the demands of the modern world. As an Academy with two specialisms in Media and Enterprise, all girls will have the opportunity to participate in a wide selection of activities that will improve their problem solving skills, ability to work as part of a team, and additional wider skills which will prepare them well for further education and the world of work.

In the modern digital age it is extremely important that students are media literate. It is central to the day-to-day life of the Academy that students use media technology and methods to research and gather information. During a student’s time at the Academy they will be able to develop, process and present information and finally exhibit their work using media.

In lessons, students will use their Media and Enterprise skills to improve their learning and achievement in all curriculum areas. There will be opportunities throughout the academic year to participate in competitions and events which will improve their skills, self-confidence and interpersonal skills. In addition, there will be events where students can work alongside students in the other Specialist Enterprise Academies in the Harris Federation.
